During 2024, 48% of the people in the tourism industry trained by Quito Turismo were women and 52% were men. From January to October 2025, female participation grew to 55%, compared to 45% for men, reflecting increasing access for women to training and professional development opportunities.
So far in 2025, the institution has trained 96 people on issues of sustainability, inclusion and gender equality, betting on an industry that not only receives tourists, but also guarantees fairer and more respectful working environments.
Female leadership and a committed company
Quito Turismo has a female general manager and a majority of women in institutional leadership positions, sending a clear message about the importance of female leadership in decision-making and in the transformation of the sector.
In 2024, the entity received recognition as a company free of gender violence, consolidating its internal effort to promote respectful work environments, with prevention and care protocols.
Gender-focused training for the entire industry
Beyond its internal work, Quito Turismo promotes training processes aimed at the tourism industry with a focus on gender, inclusion and sustainability, promoting good practices that add value to services and the destination.
The goal is for not only Quito Tourism, but all tourism-related businesses to become spaces free of gender-based violence, where women's dignity is respected, situations of discrimination are prevented, and their economic autonomy is strengthened.
With these actions, Quito Tourism reaffirms its commitment to being an active ally in eradicating violence against women and in building a city that cares for, recognizes, and empowers the role of women in tourism and in the life of Quito.
