Tourism Minister Pablo Menoni emphasized: “More tourists means more jobs for Uruguayans. Tourism is, without a doubt, the sector that can generate the growth the country needs.”
Furthermore, the official stated: “We have opportunities to improve our service offerings, train our workforce, leverage the international geopolitical context, and deepen and complement our tourism offerings. We can only capitalize on these opportunities through long-term planning, efficient resource utilization, and a significant investment in public infrastructure geared towards tourism.”
The launch was attended by the Undersecretary of Tourism, Ana Claudia Caram; the National Director of Tourism, Cristian Pos; national and departmental authorities; associations and tourism operators.
For his part, the Mayor of Canelones, Francisco Legniani, highlighted the importance of tourism for the department, which boasts 60 km of coastline and 40 beach resorts, in addition to its rural tourism, wine tourism, gastronomy, and Canarian culture. He also wished all the mayors in the country a successful season.
In the culinary area, attendees sampled paella prepared by world runner-up Ian Escobar, accompanied by classic Marseilles bread made by the Uruguayan Bakers' Industrial Center. Also featured were the grills from "Chef de Fuegos" and a mushroom tasting from the Mushroom Route presented by UTEC.
The Ministry of Tourism and the Intendency of Canelones presented their respective summer campaigns; the visual show of Chindogu and the closing with F5: Drums of Cuareim were enjoyed.
