Turkish Airlines and South African Airways sign codeshare agreement

The alliance will expand connectivity between South Africa and Türkiye, offering more destinations, more travel options, and an enhanced experience for passengers of both airlines

Under this new agreement, Turkish Airlines will place its TK flight code on South African Airways flights operating through its main African gateways, including Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth, Windhoek, Harare, Victoria Falls, and Mauritius. South African Airways, in turn, will place its SA flight code on selected Turkish Airlines flights between Istanbul and Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Frankfurt, Paris, and London.

Commenting on the agreement, the Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee of Turkish Airlines, Prof. Ahmet Bolat, stated:

“Our codeshare agreement with South African Airways is a significant step in further strengthening our presence in the African market and deepening cooperation between Turkey and South Africa. As the largest non-African airline operating in Africa, we place great importance on sustainable partnerships that enhance connectivity and generate long-term value for our passengers.” 

South African Airways CEO, Prof. John Lamola, stated:

“South African Airways welcomes this codeshare agreement as a strategic step to expand safe, reliable, and competitive air services for our customers. Turkish Airlines is a highly prestigious global airline, and this collaboration reflects our shared commitment to strengthening connectivity between Africa and Turkey. Alliances of this nature play an important role in boosting tourism, trade, and sustainable economic development.” 

Turkish Airlines continues to reinforce its position as the airline with the most extensive network in Africa, connecting its passengers across 65 destinations in 41 countries on the continent. The new codeshare agreement with South African Airways will further expand this connectivity, offering greater access to key destinations for Turkish Airlines passengers in South Africa, while providing South African Airways passengers with access to Turkish Airlines’ unparalleled network of 355 destinations in 131 countries.
