Maroma, a Belmond Hotel, announced the appointment of Renata Portes as General Manager, effective November 24, 2025. This new phase encompasses the strategic and operational management of the property, with the aim of strengthening its hospitality offering and consolidating the Slow Luxury approach, characteristic of the Belmond portfolio. In this role, she will report to Tiago Sarmento, Area Managing Director, Mexico.
With twenty years of experience in luxury hospitality, Portes began his career at Belmond in Rio de Janeiro's legendary Copacabana Palace as a trainee, later expanding into various areas such as Spa, Guest Relations, and Events. His professional growth included international experience in the Maldives and a return to Copacabana Palace, where he held positions such as Rooms Division Manager and Assistant Manager, Rooms.
In 2023 she took over the management of the Hotel das Cataratas, a Belmond Hotel, and was promoted to general manager in 2024. During her leadership, outstanding achievements were promoted, including the launch of the Y restaurant, the continuation of the Forbes 5-Star recognition —the only one in South America—, the presence in the extended list of The World's 50 Best, obtaining Three Michelin Keys and the inclusion in Forbes Edge.
His administration was also characterized by a strong social and environmental commitment, promoting active participation in community projects such as “Onças do Iguaçu”, a key initiative for the conservation of the jaguar in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest.
