UN Tourism announced a partnership with the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) aimed at strengthening tourism education at the secondary level. The agreement seeks to facilitate the integration of tourism-related content into school curricula, enabling more students to develop knowledge about sustainability, culture, management, and the workings of an industry that is key to the world's economies.

The initiative is based on the Education Toolkit created by UN Tourism, a tool designed to guide education systems interested in incorporating tourism as a subject or curricular component. The material includes pedagogical guides, methodological recommendations, and resources based on international best practices, with the aim of facilitating effective adoption in different educational contexts.

The collaboration with the International Baccalaureate Organization complements the work that UN Tourism already carries out with other global academic partners, expanding the reach of this educational initiative. The approach is geared towards promoting transversal skills such as critical thinking, intercultural understanding, creativity, and sustainability—essential skills for future generations.

With this alliance, UN Tourism reinforces its commitment to professionalizing knowledge about the sector from early stages and positioning tourism as a relevant field of study for students around the world.
