Quintana Roo reaffirms its position as one of the most important tourist destinations in the country and gateway for thousands of tourists to Mexico, registering 24.4 million national and foreign passengers from January to October of this year, out of a total of 157.2 million who arrived in the country by air.
During this period, according to the State Tourism Secretariat (SEDETUR) headed by Bernardo Cueto Riestra, the air terminal of Quintana Roo's main tourist destination, Cancun, ranked second in passenger service, handling 24.4 million passengers, after the Benito Juárez International Airport (AICM) with 36.9 million.
This performance confirms the preference of international and national tourism for the 12 destinations that Quintana Roo has, as well as the quality of the tourist services that characterize the state such as its hospitality, gastronomy, jungle, beaches, cenotes and archaeological zones.
Thanks to the coordinated work between federal and state authorities and airport operators, actions have been implemented to improve the quality of the visitor experience, reducing waiting times and enhancing service.
These actions have contributed to the fact that the Cancun International Airport continues to be one of the most important in Mexico, and the gateway for millions of tourists who visit Quintana Roo every year and whose economic impact translates into shared prosperity as established by the New Era of Tourism promoted by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa.
