Brazil is on the verge of reaching the historic milestone of 9 million international tourists in 2025. This historic moment for Brazilian tourism cannot go unnoticed. To celebrate, the Agency is promoting a "recovery event" this Friday (19th) at 10:30 a.m. at the Turistômetro in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), on Copacabana beach, recording the exact moment the new record is set.

The president of Embratur, Marcelo Freixo, will be present to oversee the count, along with small business owners in the tourism sector, impacted by the surge in new visitors, as well as percussionists from the Mangueira Samba School, who will provide the music and rhythm for this historic moment. The figure of 9 million tourists is 40% higher than the previous record of 6.77 million international visitors registered in 2024.

On that occasion, Freixo will be able to present projections of tourism growth in Rio de Janeiro in 2026, with data on the growth of ticket sales to the city in the summer of 2026, as well as the growth of the international air network that arrives at Galeão Airport.

The tourism counters in Rio and Brasília were inaugurated on November 24, when the country reached a total of 8 million international tourists. Along with the digital counter, a national campaign was launched under the slogan "The record for foreign tourism is the pride of an entire country." The campaign materials tell the real stories of people working in different areas of the tourism sector in Brazil.
