At the World Travel Awards 2025, the country received five global awards, placing it once again in the spotlight of international tourism.

For the thirteenth time, Peru has been recognized as the World's Leading Culinary Destination for its outstanding gastronomy, a result of the influence of ancient cultures, ancestral techniques, and ingredients from the Andes, the Amazon, and the Pacific coast. Today, Peruvian cuisine stands out not only for its magnificent flavors but also for its cultural coherence, its connection to the land, and the innovative capacity of its chefs, who have the ability to transform local ingredients into experiences that transcend borders.

Peru was also recognized for the seventh time as the World's Best Cultural Destination, while Machu Picchu was once again crowned the World's Best Tourist Attraction, consolidating its position as one of the planet's great heritage sites.

Meanwhile, Lima, the capital of Peru, was distinguished as the Best Heritage City in the World, for being the one that best represents the mix of history, culture and tourist appeal at a global level, characteristics that are clearly appreciated in its well preserved Historic Center, with mansions, churches, streets and balconies from the colonial and republican era.

Meanwhile, in the institutional category, PROMPERÚ, the Peruvian state entity that promotes tourism, was distinguished as the Best World Tourism Office 2025.

Award-winning Peruvian restaurants

Peruvian cuisine, one of the most influential on the continent, once again took center stage in Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants 2025, with eight Peruvian restaurants included in this prestigious ranking that recognizes the best in the region. Kjolle, by chef Pía León, was ranked the second best restaurant in Latin America, in addition to receiving the Art of Hospitality award, a tribute to excellence in service and the overall experience offered to diners.

Other Peruvian restaurants that rank among the best in Latin America include Mérito (4), Cosme (9), Mayta (11), La Mar (26), Rafael (33), and Osso (44), all located in Lima, as well as Mil (49), which is in Cusco. Furthermore, in June, the Peruvian restaurant Maido was chosen as the best in the world at The World's 50 Best Restaurants 2025 awards ceremony.

These accolades strengthen Peru's image as an essential destination for those seeking meaningful and authentic travel experiences, vibrant culture, breathtaking natural beauty, and a cuisine that inspires the world. With each award, the country expands its international presence and solidifies its position as a place where every region, every city, and every dish tells a story that endures.
