United Airlines' first flight to Tepic, Nayarit, landed on the morning of December 20 from Houston, making United the first U.S. airline to operate at Riviera Nayarit International Airport.
To celebrate this important milestone, Riviera Nayarit International Airport welcomed the inaugural flight with the traditional water cannon salute. Passengers were also greeted by local artists upon disembarking. United and Aeropuertos México will officially celebrate the launch of this new route with an event at Riviera Nayarit International Airport in January.
This new service will operate once a week on a seasonal basis, with the current season beginning December 20, 2025, and concluding August 15. The flight will be operated with an Embraer E-175 aircraft, which features 12 seats in United Business Class, 16 in Economy Plus, and 48 in Economy. Departing Houston at 10:01 a.m., the flight will arrive in Tepic at 11:40 a.m. The return flight will depart Tepic at 12:50 p.m. and land in Houston at 4:10 p.m.
More than half of the airline's regional fleet now has Starlink installed, giving customers the opportunity to enjoy a high-speed, low-latency internet experience similar to what they have at home. This allows access to experiences such as live TV, streaming services, shopping, video games, and more. Starlink Wi-Fi is free for United MileagePlusSM members, and customers will be notified before their flight if it is Starlink-equipped.
United Airlines now operates to 24 destinations in Mexico and offers more flights and seats to Mexico than to any other country in its international network. With each new route, United reaffirms its commitment to providing convenient travel options for American travelers who want to explore the diverse destinations in Mexico, while connecting Mexican travelers with global hubs like Houston, thus fostering trade, tourism, and cultural exchange.
“The launch of this new route is another example of how we are offering our customers new and unique destinations within our leading global network,” said Rolf Meyer, Director of Sales for Mexico and the Caribbean at United Airlines. “We recognize how service like United’s can inspire travel and tourism to new destinations, and we are proud to offer service to this region, which is expected to continue growing and developing even further.”
“The arrival of United Airlines, one of the world’s largest and most connected airlines, to Tepic marks a decisive step for the Tepic–Riviera Nayarit International Airport. This new route connects Nayarit directly with Houston, one of the best-connected airports globally, significantly expanding international access to our region. It will allow travelers to discover the state of Nayarit through a modern, efficient, and constantly improving airport, located just 40 minutes from some of Mexico’s most beautiful beaches. At Aeropuertos Mexicanos, we are proud to support this growth by developing infrastructure that strengthens connectivity, tourism, and long-term regional development,” said Javier García Bejos, CEO of Aeropuertos Mexicanos.
