Booking.com's Travel Predictions 2026, in its tenth edition, analyzes the transformation of tourism practices globally and points to a sustained inclination of Argentine travelers towards road trips, accompanied by greater social interaction during journeys.

The report is based on research conducted among more than 29,000 people in 33 countries and territories, including a sample of over 1,000 participants from Argentina. From this data, ten trends are identified that will shape the development of tourism in 2026, among them shared road trips.

In this context, road trips are no longer just a means of transportation, but have become a space for flexibility, discovery, and connection. 92% of Argentine travelers are open to carpooling during vacations, while 58% would consider using digital platforms to connect with people traveling similar routes.

Among the factors driving this trend are the ability to adapt routes, distribute responsibilities, and foster social interaction. Furthermore, carpooling and the advancement of autonomous vehicles are expanding access to destinations that were previously less feasible for those who don't drive.

Technology adoption shows generational differences. 90% of Generation Z is willing to use autonomous vehicles or AI-based tools to define routes, compared to 56% among baby boomers. Globally, 75% of travelers say they would use AI solutions, including generative AI, to design alternative and scenic routes.

In this way, the convergence between technological innovation and social dynamics is redefining road trips as an experience that combines exploration, collaboration, and personalized planning.
