Carrasco International Airport reached a historic passenger record in 2025, registering a total of 2,144,071 travelers by year's end. This figure surpasses the previous record set in 2017, when 2,118,000 passengers passed through the terminal, thus consolidating the best annual performance since its inauguration.

The growth occurred within a context of expanding air connectivity and sustained improvements in infrastructure and services. According to official data, the busiest months were January, which reached a record high with 206,544 passengers, and March, which registered 187,241 travelers, ranking among the busiest periods of the year.

Currently, 12 airlines operate out of Carrasco Airport, connecting directly to 17 destinations in Uruguay and abroad. During 2025, new routes operated by Paranair and Gol were added, while JetSMART, SKY, and LATAM increased frequencies to various regional and international destinations.

Domestic connectivity played a significant role in the year's performance. In September 2025, the expansion of operations to Salto was announced, with the addition of a new Sunday flight, complementing the two already in service. Furthermore, in December, direct flights began between Carrasco International Airport and Rivera Binational Airport, marking a new milestone in the country's domestic air network.

Federico Cabrera, Operations and Experience Manager at Aeropuertos Uruguay, highlighted that the record achieved solidifies 2025 as a historic year for national air connectivity and reflects a trend of sustained growth. In this regard, he emphasized the priority given to operational safety and the continuous improvement of the passenger experience through projects such as the new Precision Instrument Landing System.

Alongside operational growth, the terminal has made progress in incorporating new services aimed at optimizing passenger flow. Among the improvements implemented during the year are the opening of Indoor Parking, a covered parking area with direct access to the check-in area; the launch of a free virtual queuing system; and the addition of the Self Bag Drop automated baggage handling system, which allows for the tagging and check-in of luggage independently.

These advancements were accompanied by international recognition. Carrasco International Airport received the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) award for Best Airport in Latin America and the Caribbean 2024 in the category of terminals handling up to 2 million passengers, awarded by the Airports Council International. Furthermore, its food hall was distinguished as “Airport Food Hall of the Year” at the Airport Food & Beverage + Hospitality Awards, in the category of airports handling up to 20 million passengers.

Carrasco International Airport is part of the Aeropuertos Uruguay network, managed by Corporación América Airports, which operates the terminals in Carrasco, Punta del Este, Durazno, Melo, Carmelo, Paysandú, Salto and Rivera.
