The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, carried out a working tour in Acapulco to follow up on the preparations for the Tianguis Turístico México 2026, which will take place from April 27 to 30, 2026 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the most important event in the country's tourism sector.

As part of this working tour, she held a planning and follow-up meeting with her counterpart in the state, Simón Quiñones Orozco, where the head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) highlighted that the work is progressing in a positive and coordinated manner.

“Today we confirm that the Tianguis Turístico México 2026 is progressing well, with a solid agenda and increasingly refined coordination between the states, the private sector and the work teams,” he emphasized.

He reiterated his gratitude to the Government of the State of Guerrero for its support and openness to begin working now on organizing the next Tianguis, noting that this continuity provides certainty and allows for better planning.

He also emphasized that there is already a clear roadmap and a commitment to continue working together to strengthen the Tianguis Turístico as the great meeting point for tourism in Mexico.

“The idea behind this visit is to clearly discuss the progress made, the challenges, and what comes next. The Tianguis is built through planning, but also through daily coordination, and this forum allows us to align our criteria,” he stated.

At the time, the Secretary of Tourism of Guerrero, Simón Quiñones Orozco, asserted that the administration headed by Governor Evelyn Salgado Pineda is taking on this challenge with determination and strategic vision to consolidate an unprecedented edition, based on innovative proposals that contribute to strengthening tourism in each of the states.

“We thank the Government of Mexico for its great support and willingness to work in a coordinated manner, so that this joint effort translates into tangible results for the tourism sector,” he declared.

As part of his working tour, he also toured Expo Mundo Imperial, the Princess Mundo Imperial Hotel and the GNP Arena, with the aim of supervising the infrastructure and spaces that will be part of the organization and development of the Tianguis Turístico, verifying the conditions and capacities to accommodate national and international buyers, exhibitors and visitors.

Rodríguez Zamora emphasized that Acapulco is more alive than ever and that, according to the Guerrero State Tourism Secretariat, the port closed the last weekend of the year with a hotel occupancy rate of 86.9 percent, reflecting the confidence of visitors and the coordinated work for the recovery and strengthening of the destination.

“We leave with a clear roadmap and a commitment to continue working in a coordinated manner. The challenge is great, but so is the opportunity to further position the Tianguis Turístico as the premier meeting point for tourism in Mexico,” he concluded.

In this context, the Secretary of Tourism reiterated the invitation from the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, to visit the port of Acapulco, who stated: “Look how wonderful Acapulco is! Visit this beautiful port on the Mexican Pacific coast. Acapulco is thriving thanks to its people.”

Similarly, the Secretary of Tourism invited tourists to visit Guerrero during this end of the year and enjoy the New Year's Eve Gala, which will take place in the destinations of Acapulco, Zihuatanejo and Taxco, as well as in various municipalities of the Costa Grande, Costa Chica, Montaña and Norte regions, where a wide agenda of cultural, artistic and tourist activities will be offered.
