Record day for private aviation at Punta del Este Airport
Punta del Este International Airport recorded a record number of general aviation movements on Friday, December 26, with 220 private flights handled in a single day, consolidating its position as one of the main operational hubs in the region during the summer season
This volume represents an increase of more than 30% compared to the previous record, achieved on December 26, 2024, when 169 transactions were registered. This milestone reflects the continued growth in demand for private transactions and the coordinated work of operational teams to support this growth while maintaining high standards of security, efficiency, and service.
“We are proud of the effort of our teams and the collaborative work with everyone involved in the airport ecosystem, which allowed us to meet this peak demand and overcome the operational challenges that arise during periods of high demand. The focus was on ensuring service availability, prioritizing operational safety and passenger service, to maintain operational continuity 24 hours a day. This is undoubtedly a milestone that further consolidates Punta del Este as a benchmark in the region, both in aviation and tourism,” stated Guillermo Pagés, General Manager of Punta del Este Airport.
This record was achieved one year after the inauguration of the new General Aviation Terminal at Punta del Este Airport , which opened its doors at the end of 2024. The new terminal triples the space of the previous one and offers modern and spacious facilities with all the necessary services for private aviation. It was recognized as the best in Latin America at the last edition of the World Travel Awards, where it received the award for "Best FBO (Fixed Base Operator) in Latin America" and was highlighted for its high level of service, personalized attention, infrastructure and complete experience offered to general, private and executive aviation.
