Galápagos Phases Out Physical Sworn Declaration of Goods Form

This document, previously available in both digital and paper formats for all passengers aged 18 and older entering the islands, will now be replaced entirely with the digital version. The main goals are to streamline entry procedures and minimize the environmental impact from widespread paper use in one of the world's most fragile biosphere reserves.

The Sworn Declaration of Goods is the key technical and legal tool that enables the ABG to prevent the introduction of invasive species, prohibited organic products, or pathogens that could threaten the islands' unique biodiversity.

How to Complete the Digital Registration via the Integrated Biosecurity System for Galápagos (SIABG)

Access: Open your preferred web browser and search for “SIABG”.

Registration: Fill out the form with your personal details—either manually or by scanning your ID photo. Your data is protected under Ecuador’s Organic Personal Data Protection Law, enacted in May 2021.

Accuracy: It is essential to answer all questions truthfully regarding animal- or plant-origin products. Providing false information or omitting details may result in legal penalties.

Confirmation: The system will generate a digital receipt (QR code or registration number), which must be shown to biosecurity inspectors at Baltra or San Cristóbal airports.

Recommendations for Travelers

Plan Ahead: We strongly advise completing the online form before arriving at your departure airport (Quito or Guayaquil). It can be submitted up to 72 hours before your flight.

Environmental Awareness: Remember that Galápagos is a highly sensitive ecosystem. Do not attempt to bring in seeds, fruits, animals, or unauthorized processed products.

Assistance Available: During the initial transition weeks, biosecurity staff will be on hand at control points to help users experiencing technical difficulties with the platform.
