In 2025, departures of Colombians abroad increased by 4.3%, reaching 5.8 million, compared to 5.6 million in 2024. This result demonstrates the consolidation of international tourism, driven by greater air connectivity, which is reflected in the sustained growth in demand for travel abroad by Colombians.

“Colombian travelers continue to play a key role in international mobility, especially during holiday seasons. April, December, and October were the months that drove the growth in departures of Colombians abroad. In contrast, declines were recorded in February, March, and May, suggesting seasonal dynamics typical of tourism during the first half of the year,” noted Paula Cortés Calle, Executive President of ANATO.

Regarding the main destinations for Colombian travelers, the United States ranks first with 1.7 million visitors, representing 29.2% of the total and a slight increase of 0.2% compared to 2014. Spain came in second with 812,000 departures, a 5.7% increase and a 14% share.

Of particular note is the significant increase in travel to destinations in Latin America and the Caribbean, such as Brazil (+49.8%), Panama (+21.8%), the Dominican Republic (+16.5%), and Peru (+21.6%), reflecting greater diversification in international travel and strengthened regional connectivity. On the other hand, Mexico saw a 20% decrease, although it maintains its 8% share, while Chile experienced a moderate decline of 3.9%.

“These trends are linked to the diversification of international travel, the strengthening of regional connectivity, and the collaborative work between travel agencies, airlines, and destinations. They also represent an opportunity to continue strengthening the competitiveness of Colombian tourism in the international market,” the industry leader pointed out.
