FITURNEXT unveiled its 2026 program, which will take place from January 21 to 23 at IFEMA Madrid, as part of the International Tourism Fair. The program will address how tourism can contribute to more efficient and responsible water resource management, one of the major challenges currently facing tourist destinations.
The agenda will include conferences, panel discussions, and presentations by experts who will analyze real-world experiences, measurement tools, digitalization, and strategies implemented in different regions. The goal is to share knowledge and promote models that integrate sustainability, innovation, and economic development.
One of the central events will be the presentation of the FITURNEXT 2026 Awards, which recognize initiatives aligned with this year's challenge. Among the distinguished projects are the Visit Valencia Foundation, for its work in measuring the water footprint; the Barceló Group, with its Barceló Regen program focused on regenerative tourism; and Plastic Cup, for its community-led clean-up efforts in aquatic spaces.
The program also includes sessions dedicated to desalination, adaptation to water scarcity in heritage cities, and the role of technology in optimizing water use. These activities will be part of FITUR's Knowledge Pavilion, a space dedicated to the exchange of ideas and trends for the future of the sector.
FITURNEXT has the support of Aqualia as a strategic partner and is consolidating itself as a key platform to showcase innovative solutions that contribute to more sustainable and responsible tourism.
