The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), the leading private sector body for the global tourism industry, today announced the appointment of Gloria Guevara as its new President and CEO.
Guevara returns to the position she successfully held between 2017 and 2021, bringing more than three decades of experience at the highest levels of the public and private sectors. Her leadership has been distinguished by a strategic vision, a proven ability to build consensus, and a collaborative approach that has been key to addressing the industry's major challenges internationally.
Throughout her career, she has held high-level positions, including Secretary of Tourism of Mexico, Special Advisor to the Minister of Tourism of Saudi Arabia, Special Advisor on Government Affairs at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and advisor to global companies such as AMEX Global Business Travel, HSBC Mexico, Playa Hotels & Resorts, and Palace Company. She has been recognized by various international media outlets as one of the most influential figures in global tourism and has been widely praised for her leadership in crisis management, particularly during the sector's recovery following the Covid-19 pandemic.
His appointment marks a new phase for the WTTC, focused on strengthening its global relevance, expanding services to its members, and reinforcing its role as the leading representative body for the private travel and tourism sector. The Council brings together more than 200 business leaders from the industry worldwide, with a presence in all key segments, from hospitality and aviation to cruise, health, and technology.

My priority will be to boost investment, growth, and job creation; strengthen a more globally representative WTTC; deepen our connection with our members; and continue to offer world-class research, representation, and services to the travel and tourism industry,” said Gloria Guevara.
