Meliá Hotels International, in strategic alliance with Grupo Puntacana, announced the signing of the Paradisus Miches project, an exclusive new-build resort that will expand the company's presence in the Dominican Republic and contribute to positioning Miches as one of the country's next major tourist destinations.
Paradisus Miches will be Meliá's eleventh hotel in the Dominican Republic—including both operating and developing properties—and its first in this high-potential area. The resort will be situated on over 500 meters of pristine beachfront, blending seamlessly into a stunning natural environment.
Conceived as a haven in the Caribbean wilderness and developed in partnership with a long-standing strategic ally like the Rainieri family, the project reinforces their shared commitment to responsible, sustainable tourism that generates value for the destination. This vision aligns with recent initiatives such as the Meliá Bergantín Beach in Puerto Plata, aimed at fostering new growth centers through public-private collaboration.
The resort will feature 600 rooms of varying types, designed to offer personalized experiences for both adults and families. Its offerings will include a diverse culinary selection, outdoor spaces, multiple swimming pools, wellness areas, a spa, and facilities for meetings and events. The Paradisus experience, renowned for its immersion in nature and its sensory approach, will be the conceptual core of the complex, which will also incorporate exclusive brand services.
Located on the country's east coast, Miches is undergoing a transformation and is surrounded by iconic natural landmarks such as Playa Esmeralda, Laguna Limón, Montaña Redonda, and Salto La Jalda. Its proximity to Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ), approximately an hour and a half away by road, enhances its accessibility and growth potential.
During the announcement, Gabriel Escarrer, president and CEO of Meliá Hotels International, noted that Paradisus Miches reflects a respectful, innovative tourism model committed to the development of destinations and local communities, highlighting the pride in expanding their presence in the country alongside a partner with a shared vision.
For his part, Frank Elías Rainieri, CEO of Grupo Puntacana, emphasized that the alliance responds to a strategic vision to strengthen national tourism competitiveness, consolidate the confidence of international capital, raise the standard of luxury hotels and contribute to the diversification and sustainability of Dominican tourism development.
