The International Tourism Fair, organized by IFEMA MADRID from January 21 to 25, announced during its third professional day the XLVI Best Stand Awards and the VII Sustainable Stand Awards, which recognized the design, image and functionality of the exhibition spaces, as well as their commitment to sustainable participation.
Vincci, Meliá and Alsa, awarded Best Stand in the Companies category
Vincci's stand offered an original, fun, and moving concept, design, and presentation. The company showcased the world of hospitality with ingenious details, including Op art paintings and Instagrammable spaces.
For its part, Meliá successfully conveyed its simple and elegant image, with a distinctly Mediterranean and natural touch. With an olive tree as its central feature and a large skylight, the architecture of the space unfolded organically. Elements of Spanish and natural essence—ceramic latticework, recognizable landscaping, an earthy color palette, and delicate translucent panels—combined to create a functional stand that exuded beauty, serenity, and sustainability.
With an installation divided by a corridor, Alsa integrated both sections with a simplicity that reflected solid design work and a successful translation of the brand's visual identity to the space. The two cantilevered canopies projected the visitor onto an imaginary journey guided by a reinterpreted typeface and a deep blue sky that accompanied the route.
Guatemala, Abu Dhabi and Egypt, awarded in Countries and Regions
Guatemala presented a delicate, elegant stand imbued with ancestral beauty. The space utilized four essential elements: wood, colorful textiles, a large pyramidal screen, and images of Mayan glyphs, translating the essence of the country—nature, architecture, crafts, and tradition—into a minimalist design.
At the Abu Dhabi stand, the country's luxury and traditions were evident through elegant finishes and ethnic touches. The space recreated a grand oasis and an urban area, with soft carpets, sand, latticework, dark wood details, and furniture in shades of green integrated with modern, organic constructions.
Egypt showcased its historical legacy at FITUR with a stand recreating Abu Simbel and, in another pavilion, the new Egyptian Museum in Cairo. The pharaonic presence was reflected in both monumental displays, in both the commercial and exhibition areas. Egyptian stone from Aswan was featured on most of the walls, along with luminous spaces that evoked the power of the sun and pharaonic grandeur.
Castile and León, Madrid and Galicia, winners in Autonomous Communities
The Castile and León stand, under the slogan "The sky has chosen us," offered a dark and mysterious sky with stars, moons, and planets visible in broad daylight. The entire region was enveloped in a simulated nighttime effect created by the imminent solar eclipse, allowing visitors to experience what would happen during the summer of August 2026.
The Madrid stand, with its "Madrid Marca, the brand of Madrid" theme, captivated visitors from every angle of the pavilion. The monumental space invited exploration of every corner, incorporating the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, the city's everyday streets, and even a racetrack, blending tradition, contemporary design, and technology.
Galicia presented a proposal focused on land, water, and rain. With a cascade of changing images and mirrored elements, the stand constantly reflected water, light, and movement, symbolically dropping fragments of what defines the destination.
Winners of the 7th FITUR Sustainable Stand Awards 2026
Sustainability was once again one of the central themes of FITUR, and the Sustainable Stand Awards recognized destinations and companies aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.
Galicia was recognized for its commitment to innovation through a textile material made from the recycling of more than 50,000 plastic bottles, used in the construction of the stand's panels.
Cantabria based its project on the development of the “Inicia 2030” platform to monitor its sustainability goals and results, as well as a dismantling protocol that avoided the demolition of the exhibition space.
Grupo Piñero was awarded for its comprehensive sustainability project, based on a global commitment that involved all stakeholders, including visitors.
The Castelldefels City Council received the award for structuring its commitment to sustainability around cultural identity, using the concept of the beach bar as an aesthetic reference and as a source of materials for the platform and other elements of the stand.
