To reach agreements regarding new promotional campaigns, attracting investments and boosting community tourism in the Mexican Caribbean, the World Capital of Vacations, Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa held a meeting with authorities and associates of INVEROTEL, as part of the work agenda at FITUR 2026.

Led by the CEO of Grupo Piñero and president of INVEROTEL, Encarna Piñero García, the growth prospects and challenges of the hotel infrastructure were reviewed from the perspective of Grupo Inverotel, in order to promote Mexico and Quintana Roo as strategic international destinations.

During this working meeting, progress was analyzed through the presentation of current development projects, future tourism policies and competitiveness indicators of the 12 destinations of Quintana Roo, which strengthen their positioning in the global market.

The World Capital of Vacations,” which offers a wide variety of tourism products and incorporates rural community tourism, with history, culture, and living experiences of the Mayan people.

Furthermore, the 2026 FIFA World Cup presents significant opportunities for immediate development, given that Cancún, Quintana Roo's airports, and ports have extensive connections to the world and the host cities of the matches. Cancún has two hotels accredited as Base Camps; Fan Zones will be set up, providing spaces for fans and the general public to enjoy free screenings of the World Cup matches.

Furthermore, agreements are in place with international tour operators to market travel packages that include airfare, lodging, World Cup tickets, and transportation to the match venues, thanks to Quintana Roo's excellent connectivity. The Cancun International Airport has joined the federal security strategy and launched a specific promotional campaign to invite the millions of World Cup fans to experience it from the Mexican Caribbean and position the region as a gateway to the football tournament.
