LEVEL, the Barcelona-based long-haul airline, and PROMPERÚ, Peru's Export and Tourism Promotion Commission, have presented at FITUR the new direct route between Barcelona and Lima, a strategic connection that will begin operating on June 3, 2026.

With this new route, LEVEL will become the only airline offering direct, non-stop flights between the two cities, strengthening air connectivity between Europe and Latin America and contributing to the growth of tourism, cultural and business flows between Spain and Peru.

The presentation of this new connection took place during FITUR, in a meeting with media in which representatives of LEVEL and PROMPERÚ highlighted the positive impact of this route for both tourism and the economy, as well as the key role of air connectivity in strengthening relations between both countries.

The event was attended by Rafael Jiménez Hoyos, CEO of LEVEL; Braian Schuld, Head of Global Sales at LEVEL; and María Del Sol Velásquez García, Director of Tourism Promotion at PROMPERÚ, who highlighted the opportunities opened up by this new direct connection between Europe and Peru.

“This route represents a key step in our goal of consolidating our position as Barcelona’s leading long-haul airline and further strengthening intercontinental connectivity from the city. For LEVEL, it’s an opportunity to continue innovating and generating opportunities for economic and tourism growth. With our routes, we facilitate travel, connect communities directly, and export talent, contributing to strategic sectors such as tourism,” said Rafael Jiménez Hoyos, CEO of LEVEL. “We celebrate this new connection in partnership with PROMPERÚ, and within the framework of FITUR. This new route will allow us to bring our passengers closer to everything that makes Lima a truly inspiring destination and an excellent starting point for discovering the rest of the country.”

For her part, María Del Sol Velásquez, Director of Tourism Promotion at PROMPERÚ, stated: "This new nonstop route between the Catalan capital and Peru will significantly contribute to strengthening tourism and trade. Spain, as the main source market for European tourists to Peru, plays a key role in boosting tourism to our country. We invite Spanish travelers to discover Peru, a unique destination that captivates with its culture, nature, gastronomy, and tourism products in line with the latest trends."

The new route will initially operate three times a week, significantly expanding travel options between the two markets and offering a direct alternative from Barcelona, one of Southern Europe's major airports. This connection will bring Peru closer to European travelers and, in turn, facilitate access for Peruvian travelers to Barcelona and its network of destinations in Europe.

Lima: a strategic destination

Lima, the capital of Peru, is one of Latin America's most dynamic destinations and an international benchmark for history, culture, and gastronomy, as well as an important gateway for exploring other destinations in the country. This new direct connection will help boost its position in the European market and strengthen tourism between the two regions.

With this new route, LEVEL continues to expand its long-haul network from Barcelona and reinforces its commitment to Latin America as a strategic market, consolidating its role as a key player in intercontinental connectivity from the city.
