KLM has positioned itself among the first European airlines to offer free internet access to passengers traveling within the continent, marking a significant advancement in the flight experience. Since January 22, passengers on European routes have been able to stay connected throughout their journey to send emails, browse the internet, listen to music, play games, or enjoy online entertainment.

The service is being rolled out gradually across the fleet operating intra-European flights. Currently, half of the aircraft assigned to these routes already have free Wi-Fi. In the coming years, connectivity will be extended to all A321neo aircraft, the Embraer 195-E2, and part of the B737-800 fleet.

With this measure, the airline aims to enhance onboard comfort on European flights, where the fleet does not have individual entertainment screens. After logging in or registering for the Flying Blue program, passengers gain access to unlimited internet throughout the flight.

Stephanie Putzeist, Head of Customer Experience at KLM, said: “We listen carefully to what our passengers value, and free internet access has long been among their top requests. With this initiative, we are making travel within Europe even more convenient, allowing each passenger to personalize their flight experience and stay connected throughout their journey.”

An evolving onboard experience

Since August 2025, KLM has added 12 A321neo aircraft to its fleet, dedicated exclusively to European destinations. These aircraft feature Wi-Fi and redesigned seats, reinforcing the airline's commitment to a more comfortable and modern travel experience on short- and medium-haul routes.
