Air Canada announced a strategic expansion of its winter network, including two routes to Mexico from Calgary, the addition of Quito to its list of destinations, year-round service to Manchester and Copenhagen, and increased service to Latin America. These expansions follow plans announced earlier this month to launch the only nonstop flights from North America to Sapporo, Japan (website in English).

“With a comprehensive network spanning all five inhabited continents, Air Canada’s expanded winter schedule solidifies our hubs as world-class global gateways, facilitating fast and comfortable travel. These new additions and enhancements are a driver for tourism, trade, and connectivity, offering more attractive opportunities for our passengers and Aeroplan partners to travel to almost anywhere in the world to, from, or through Canada,” said Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President, Chief Commercial Officer, and President of Cargo at Air Canada.

"We are continuing our strategic expansion in Latin America, taking advantage of strong demand and cargo opportunities, while utilizing the new Airbus A321XLR aircraft base at our Toronto-Pearson (YYZ) hub to offer year-round services to Copenhagen and Manchester," added Mark Gallardo.

“We are also capitalizing on growing demand and Vancouver’s unique location to add our first service to Sapporo, the only direct flight from North America to this renowned winter destination, while providing two new options for our loyal passengers in Calgary seeking the warmth of Mexico’s beaches,” Mr. Gallardo concluded.
