The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, reported that, in 2025, regular air transport in the country moved 122 million 400 thousand passengers, which represented a growth of 2.4 percent compared to 2024, reflecting the dynamism and solidity of the national tourism and aeronautical sector.
“The positive results we observed throughout the year confirm a positive trend; everything points to 2025 closing with solid figures for tourism and air connectivity, strengthening the recovery and growth of the sector in Mexico,” said Rodríguez Zamora.
The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) emphasized that, during the period January-December 2025, 63 million 535 thousand passengers were transported on domestic flights, which meant an increase of 3.3 percent compared to 2024 and a growth of 18.7 percent compared to 2019.
In the domestic market, Viva Aerobus and Volaris concentrated the largest flow of passengers, transporting a total of 46.8 million, a figure that represented an increase of 6.5 percent compared to 2024 and a growth of 69.4 percent compared to 2019.
On the other hand, Rodríguez Zamora detailed that, regarding international flights, 58 million 910 thousand passengers were transported during the same period, which meant an increase of 1.5 percent compared to 2024 and an advance of 23.0 percent compared to the pre-pandemic levels of 2019.
The main Mexican airlines that operated international flights were Aeromexico and Volaris, moving 14 million 316 thousand passengers, which represented a growth of 5.1 percent compared to 2024 and 44.9 percent compared to 2019.
The Secretary of Tourism highlighted that these results confirm the importance of air transport as an engine of tourism and connectivity for the country.
“The sustained growth in the number of air passengers is a clear sign of confidence in Mexico as a tourist destination and of the strategic role that air connectivity plays in driving development, employment and well-being in communities,” he concluded.
