From December 2026 to April 2027, Air Canada will add two direct routes from Mexico to Calgary as part of its winter operation, integrating this destination into its service network, thus strengthening tourism and trade between both countries.
The addition of the new flights linking Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR) and Cancun International Airport (CUN) with Calgary International Airport (YYC) is driven by the growing flow of passengers who find these beach destinations ideal spaces for rest and hospitality during the winter season.
These seasonal routes will position Calgary as an attractive destination for Mexican travelers interested in exploring Canada. The city combines a vibrant urban scene with its proximity to natural environments, fostering a balanced exchange and expanding travel options in both directions during the winter.
Puerto Vallarta stands out for its relaxed pace, ecotourism offerings, and diverse cuisine, as well as its prime location on Mexico's Pacific coast. On the other side of the country, Cancún offers extensive tourism infrastructure, a vibrant nightlife, and access to Caribbean beaches. Together, the attributes of both destinations enrich Mexico's offerings for a variety of Canadian travelers.
"With a comprehensive network spanning all five inhabited continents, these new additions are an engine for tourism, trade and connectivity, offering more attractive opportunities for our passengers and Aeroplan partners to travel to almost anywhere in the world to, from or through Canada," said Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President, Chief Commercial Officer and President of Cargo at Air Canada.
Starting in December, the airline will offer four weekly flights from Calgary to Cancún and three to Puerto Vallarta, operated by Air Canada Rouge aboard Boeing 737 MAX aircraft with Premium and Economy cabins. During the flight, passengers can enjoy complimentary Canadian beer, wine, and premium snacks, as well as free high-speed Wi-Fi for all Aeroplan1 members.
