Avianca includes hand luggage in its cheapest fare on international flights in the Americas
International tickets for flights in the Americas, purchased from January 27, 2026 onwards at the Light fare, will include one personal item and carry-on baggage of up to 10 kg as part of the product attributes
Avianca announced an adjustment to the fare conditions applicable to tickets purchased from January 27, 2026. From this date, on international flights in the Americas, the Light fare will include one personal item and one carry-on bag of up to 10 kg. This adjustment is part of the existing benefits package, and other services remain available as optional extras, according to each customer's choice.
On domestic flights, Avianca will maintain the Basic fare, which includes one personal item, preserving a differentiated fare structure between markets and aligned with the specific needs of these routes.
The implementation of this adjustment to the customer value proposition adds to other advances that the airline has incorporated so far in 2026, including the expansion of Business Class Americas to its entire network, including domestic flights in Colombia, Ecuador and Guatemala, the improvement of ground services such as Insignia by Avianca check-in, the renovation of VIP lounges and the progressive advancement in the installation of Wi-Fi connectivity on board.

The addition of carry-on baggage to the Light fare for international flights is part of that process and is seamlessly integrated with the rest of the product's features,” said Otto Gergye, Chief Commercial Officer of Avianca.
Fare conditions apply according to the ticket purchase date and do not affect benefits associated with other fares. Tickets with these conditions are now available through avianca.com, the mobile app, the Contact Center, and travel agencies.
