In 2025, Cancun reaffirmed its strategic role within the meetings industry by presenting the results of the congress segment and its future projections, highlighting the economic impact and international relevance that the destination continues to consolidate. During the year, the congress segment generated over $25 million in revenue, driven by the hosting of 19 congresses of global, national, and regional scope that brought together more than 16,000 participants.

The MICE industry is a key pillar of the economy, contributing 1.83% to the national GDP and 7.83% to the state GDP of Quintana Roo, making it the state with the highest revenue from meetings tourism in Mexico. In this context, Cancún stands out as an engine of the sector's development, thanks to its specialized infrastructure, its supply chain, its adherence to international standards, and air connectivity that directly links it to 134 cities worldwide.

During 2025, the destination hosted seven world congresses, nine national congresses, and three regional congresses, generating over US$25.9 million in revenue. Simultaneously, collaborative work with the Punta Cancun Alliance secured new events for the coming years, with congresses already confirmed between 2026 and 2031, in addition to a robust bidding process extending through 2032.

The international positioning strategy is reinforced by Cancun's active participation in global meetings industry associations and specialized trade shows worldwide, strengthening strategic ties and attracting high-impact events. With these actions, Cancun not only consolidates its leadership as a convention destination but also projects sustained growth that will continue to generate economic value and international visibility in the coming years.
