Barranquilla is preparing for another edition of the Barranquilla Carnival, one of Colombia's most iconic cultural festivals. In this context, Avianca announced an increase in its operations to facilitate travel to the city through its network of domestic and international routes.
During the festive season, the airline will offer more than 120 weekly flights to Barranquilla, coinciding with the main dates of the cultural calendar. The schedule will run from the traditional Guacherna Parade on February 6th to the main weekend beginning February 13th, when the principal events take place, including the crowning of the queen, the Battle of Flowers, and the Grand Parade of Tradition.
The company's sales director for Colombia and South America, David Alemán, stated that the operation aims to bring more people closer to cultural celebrations that contribute to national identity and strengthen interregional ties. He also highlighted the city's historical significance for the airline, which was founded there over a century ago.
From Barranquilla, Avianca operates direct flights to Bogotá, Cali, Medellín, and Miami, facilitating the flow of visitors and solidifying the city's role as a tourist and economic hub during the season. The increased flight frequency is aimed at meeting the surge in demand generated by the celebration.
In the previous edition, the company transported more than 23,000 passengers to the city during the festive period between February 20 and March 2, 2025, a volume that reflects the magnitude of the event and the tourist impact of this tradition.
