The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, reported that the tourism sector registered positive results during the third quarter of 2025, according to the Quarterly Indicators of Tourism Activity published by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).
According to the report, the tourism Gross Domestic Product showed an annual increase of 0.8% compared to the same period in 2024, in addition to a quarterly growth of 0.4% compared to the second quarter of 2025. The official noted that these results reflect a sustained advance of the sector and its contribution to national economic development.
During the same period, domestic tourism consumption also showed positive growth, with a 0.3% increase compared to the previous quarter and an annual growth rate of 0.8%. This performance reflects greater participation by travelers in economic activities related to the sector.
Rodríguez Zamora highlighted that the positive performance of tourism activity aligns with the economic policy promoted by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, who considers tourism as a strategic instrument to strengthen the domestic market, generate employment, and promote inclusive and sustainable development.
The head of Tourism emphasized that the sector continues to consolidate itself as a relevant engine of the Mexican economy, contributing to the well-being of communities and the dynamism of the country's destinations.
