Brazil is a strategic market for Marriott International, boasting the second-largest Marriott Bonvoy member base in CALA, 15 hotels in operation under nine global brands, and 17 projects in the pipeline, representing over 2,200 rooms. Mancio's appointment reinforces the company's commitment to expanding its presence in the country and leveraging its full growth potential.
A prominent executive in the hospitality and real estate sectors, Paulo Mancio brings decades of experience in leadership positions. He joins Marriott from CBRE, where he served as Managing Director of Hospitality. His professional trajectory also includes more than two decades in a major international hotel group, where he ultimately held the position of Chief D&TS Officer for the Americas, in addition to international experience at DAMAC Properties in Dubai. Mancio holds degrees in Civil Engineering and Business Administration, has specialized certification in Hotel Projects and Construction, and works as a postgraduate professor in Real Estate Management and Hospitality at Florida International University. Recognized for his deep market vision and strong execution capabilities, he is highly prepared to drive Marriott's ambitious growth agenda in Brazil.
“We are thrilled to welcome Paulo Mancio to Marriott International,” said Bojan Kumer, Regional Vice President of Development for CALA. “His unparalleled experience and track record in hotel development will be instrumental as we continue to capitalize on the dynamism of the Brazilian market. Paulo will play a decisive role in accelerating the strategic growth of our diversified brand portfolio—from luxury to accessible midscale—in this highly relevant market.”
With Paulo Mancio leading development in Brazil, Marriott will continue strategic initiatives throughout the country. He will play a central role in expanding the company's presence in the luxury segment, building on recent landmark openings such as the W São Paulo, as well as transformative projects in the pipeline, such as MARAEY, which will bring the first Ritz-Carlton Reserve, a JW Marriott All-Inclusive, and the Rock in Rio Autograph Collection hotel to South America—further strengthening Marriott's luxury and lifestyle portfolio in the Brazilian market.
Beyond the luxury segment, Mancio will be responsible for leading the expansion of Marriott's various brands. One of the main priorities will be the continued strategic expansion of the City Express by Marriott brand, under the leadership of Renato Carvalho, Senior Development Manager in Brazil, leveraging the recent announcement of seven new contracts as part of a multi-unit development agreement, with the goal of bringing affordable, quality accommodation to more regions of the country. Mancio will also play a key role in expanding the company's All-Inclusive portfolio, based on the strong performance of The Westin Porto de Galinhas and the recent signing of The Westin João Pessoa, further consolidating Marriott's leadership in this growing leisure segment.
With Paulo Mancio leading the development in Brazil, Marriott International begins a promising new chapter of strategic growth and market leadership in one of its most important global markets.
