Uruguay's Ministry of Tourism has launched the installation of Purple Points in various destinations across the country as part of its Safe Tourism strategy. The measure is being implemented especially in popular coastal areas during the summer season, with the aim of preventing and addressing situations of gender-based violence.

These spaces serve as resource points where information, support, and guidance are provided in situations of potential vulnerability. In addition to direct assistance, the initiative promotes awareness-raising activities to strengthen social consciousness and community response to these types of problems.

The implementation is being carried out in coordination with departmental governments and organizations linked to gender policies, consolidating a collaborative effort that seeks to integrate a human rights perspective into tourism management. The ministry emphasized that tourism development must take place in safe, inclusive, and respectful environments.

With this public policy, Uruguay reinforces its position as a destination committed to the overall well-being of its visitors and local communities, incorporating concrete tools to promote a responsible tourism experience.
