The Uruguayan Chamber of Tourism (CAMTUR) officially presented Expo Turismo Uruguay 2026, scheduled to take place from April 17 to 19 at the LATU Events Center in Montevideo. The launch was held on February 12 at the headquarters of the Uruguayan Ministry of Tourism, with the participation of government officials and representatives from the private sector.

Participants included CAMTUR President Fernando Tapia, members of the institution's board of directors, and tourism officials, including Minister Pablo Menoni and National Director of Tourism Cristian Pos.

The fair was declared of Tourist Interest by the Ministry, which also supports the initiative as a diamond sponsor. Other sponsors include the National Institute of Viticulture (INAVI), Carrasco International Airport, and Visit Buenos Aires as the guest destination.

The event will bring together national and international destinations, companies in the sector, vacation packages, tastings, conferences, shows, and commercial booths. The aim is to create a public-private partnership focused on promotion, marketing, and establishing new professional connections within the industry.

For exhibitors, the fair will serve as a platform to showcase products, finalize deals, and expand their networks. At the same time, the general public will be able to compare travel options, discover special offers, and plan future trips all in one place.

Tourism plays a significant role in the Uruguayan economy: it represents 6.4% of the Gross Domestic Product, 43% of service exports, 12% of total exports, and is linked to approximately 12% of the country's businesses. In this context, the new trade fair aims to establish itself as an annual meeting point for the sector and contribute to the international positioning of Uruguay's tourism industry.
