Guanacaste Airport, a member of the VINCI Airports network, together with the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT), announced the arrival of the first charter flight from Poland to Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport starting in October 2026, marking a new milestone in the country's air connectivity.

During the season, the tour operator Rainbow Tours will operate eleven charter flights aboard LOT Polish Airlines Boeing 787-8 aircraft, with a capacity of 251 passengers. The services will run weekly from two Polish cities:

The route from Warsaw Chopin Airport will operate between October 8 and 29.

The route from Katowice International Airport will run from November 5 to December 17.

According to ICT data, in 2025 8,837 visitors from Poland entered the country, of which 524 did so through Guanacaste Airport, which shows the growth potential of this source market.

Costa Rica's Minister of Tourism, William Rodríguez, emphasized that the opening of the direct flight will strengthen the arrival of European tourists, generate local employment, and boost economic activity in the province. He also thanked the Polish tour operator for including the destination in its itinerary.

Founded in 1990, Rainbow Tours is one of Poland's leading tour operators and a member of the Polish Chamber of Tourism. Its CEO, Maciej Szczechura, noted that Costa Rica has long been an aspirational destination for Polish travelers and that this venture will bring the country's natural and cultural offerings closer to an audience increasingly interested in sustainable and authentic experiences.

For his part, the airport's general manager, César Jaramillo, emphasized that the new route represents the first direct connection between Costa Rica and Poland, a result of international promotion efforts and the development of air routes to strategic markets. The initiative aims to solidify Guanacaste as a gateway for European visitors interested in beaches, biodiversity, and outdoor activities.

The new service will expand Costa Rica's connectivity with Europe and strengthen the diversification of source markets, especially during the northern hemisphere's high season, when 51% of Polish adults plan to take at least one leisure trip, according to studies by the Polish Tourism Organization.
