Mato Grosso do Sul will participate in the One Planet Global Roundtable – Practical Solutions for a Climate Resilient Tourism Future, an initiative promoted by the Green Initiative that brings together public leaders, specialists and representatives of destinations committed to concrete solutions to adapt and mitigate the impacts of non-tourism climate change.
The finding is part of the international agenda of the One Planet movement, aimed at building a more resilient tourism sector, with a focus on decarbonization, environmental governance and sustainable development. The purpose of the Roundtable is to present practical experiences and replicated models that contribute to the structural evolution of the global travel industry.
The state will be represented by Bruno Wendling, president of the Mato Grosso do Sul Tourism Foundation, who will present the model implemented in Bonito — a destination recognized internationally for its structured environmental governance.
Since 2023, Bonito has been accumulating international awards and recognitions related to sustainability and responsible tourism management. The destination is consolidated as a reference to become the world's first carbon-neutral ecotourism destination, in addition to receiving certifications and distinctions in awards focused on climate change and good public management practices in the sector.
The adopted model includes inventory and neutralization of carbon emissions, rigorous control of tourist carrying capacity, continuous environmental monitoring and integration between public power, trade and local communities — pillars that strengthen the competitiveness of the destination in an international scenario increasingly guided by ESG criteria.
For the trade, participation in the Roundtable represents more than institutional visibility: it is a strategic alliance for Brazilian tourism in the global debate on climate and sustainability.
"We believe that Brazil is in full condition to assume prominence in the global agenda of resilient tourism. Our objective is to show that it is possible to grow with environmental responsibility and that Brazilian tourism can lead this movement," he states. Bruno Wendling.
The presence of the event also integrates the international promotion strategy of the destination, which has the partnership of Global Vision Access in the United States, strengthening its insertion in priority markets and together with strategic stakeholders.
To share its trajectory in a global forum dedicated to the construction of applied climate solutions, Mato Grosso do Sul reaffirms its vision of the future: developing tourism as a vector of prosperity, environmental conservation and innovation — contributing to position Brazil as a reference in sustainable tourism on an international level.
