ITB Berlin celebrates 60 years with an anniversary edition and an intense press schedule

The major tourism fair will begin on March 2 with its conference at CityCube Berlin, followed by an exclusive media tour and the UN Ministerial Summit

ITB Berlin will celebrate its 60th anniversary from March 3 to 5, 2026, with a special edition focusing on global trends, emerging markets, and strategies for the future of international tourism. Activities will officially begin on Monday, March 2, the day before the trade fair opens, with the inaugural press conference at 10:00 a.m. in CityCube Berlin.

During the presentation, Messe Berlin CEO Dr. Mario Tobias will outline the main themes and new features of this anniversary edition. Angola, the 2026 host country, will be represented by its Minister of Tourism, Márcio de Jesus Lopes Daniel, who will share the destination's perspectives and attractions.

Also participating will be Apostolos Tzitzikostas, European Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism, who will address the European Union's new strategy on sustainable tourism and the bloc's current tourism policy priorities.

For her part, Mitra Sorrells, Senior Vice President of Content at Phocuswright, will present updated data on the global market, with special attention to growth in regions such as the Middle East, Latin America and India, as well as the advancement of artificial intelligence in the travel sector.

The president of the German Travel Association (DRV), Albin Loidl, will offer an overview of the prospects for German outbound tourism and the main trends that will mark 2026.

Following the conference, accredited media will be able to participate in a new exclusive "behind the scenes" tour, which will allow them to visit selected booths before the official opening.

At 4:00 PM, the UN Tourism Ministers' Summit will be held as part of the fair, where high-ranking government representatives will discuss the future of international tourism. The day will conclude with the official Opening Gala, featuring Angola as the host country.

Each year, ITB Berlin attracts around 3,000 journalists from all over the world, establishing itself as the leading global platform for commercial and strategic exchange in the tourism industry.
