The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, stated that tourism in the country remains strong, dynamic and growing, which is reflected in the main 20 tourist centers of the country, which, together, during the first seven weeks of 2026, show a growth of between 3 and 4 percent in the arrival of tourists to hotels.

“Our destinations are operating normally and tourism continues to grow with confidence. We are a country that offers unique experiences with quality and hospitality,” he emphasized.

Data collected by the Ministry of Tourism of the Government of Mexico confirms that hotel occupancy after the third week of February and the beginning of the fourth week of the same month shows no impact.

Additionally, after a review with the State Tourism Secretariats, operations are confirmed to be at normal levels for the sector.

In concrete terms, the information from states like Jalisco stands out, which until Sunday, February 22, reported 61 percent occupancy for the state, and 92 percent in the destination of Puerto Vallarta.

Likewise, Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP) reported that Guadalajara Airport was operating at 96 percent capacity on February 24, and Puerto Vallarta Airport at 95 percent, with operations expected to return to 100 percent during the week. Furthermore, the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC) reported that operations at the rest of the country's airports are proceeding normally.

Another example is the state of Guerrero, which on Sunday, February 22, reported an average occupancy rate of 86.6 percent across the state, with the highest occupancy rates in the three zones of Acapulco, averaging 89.6 percent, and 86.8 percent for Ixtapa.

In a rapid verification scheme, the northern, central and southern states did not report any impact on their average occupancy rates at the start of this year, as is the case of Chihuahua and Baja California, as well as Colima, Mexico City, Guerrero, Oaxaca and Quintana Roo.

As evidence of the stability at the start of the year, the figures for tourist arrivals to the state of Oaxaca stand out, which in January reported a growth of 6.6 percent more compared to the same month in 2025.

Similarly positive are the figures for tourist arrivals to hotel rooms in the states of Guanajuato, Colima, Zacatecas and San Luis Potosí, which in the month of January have increases ranging from 9 percent to 2.1 percent; the same happens with destinations such as Mazatlán, Morelia and San Cristóbal de las Casas, which also have figures of increases ranging from 37 to 14 percent compared to the first month of last year.

With this data, the Ministry of Tourism confirms that the figures show that there is confidence among travelers arriving at the various destinations in Mexico.
