Queer Destinations and HBX Group announced the launch of a new online platform aimed at transforming the way the LGBTQ+ community discovers, selects and books tourist experiences in destinations and establishments committed to inclusion.
The tool represents a new step within the strategic alliance between both organizations and combines three fundamental pillars: specialized certification standards, advanced booking technology and access to HBX Group's exclusive global inventory, allowing inclusive tourism to scale internationally.
A comprehensive ecosystem
The platform is built upon the Queer Destinations Committed certification program, which trains and certifies governments, destinations, hotels, and tourism companies based on LGBTQ+ inclusion criteria and specialized training. This is complemented by HBX Group's technological infrastructure, which ensures efficient connectivity and operational performance for bookings, along with its global inventory of accommodations and B2B marketplace capabilities.
This ecosystem allows travelers and residents to book within a certified network, ensuring that every transaction supports organizations that have demonstrated their commitment to inclusion. A portion of the revenue generated is reinvested in the local queer community through partnerships with LGBTQ+ NGOs, reinforcing a social impact model.
Economic potential and global strategy
According to estimates from LGBT Capital, the LGBTQ+ community represents approximately $3.7 trillion in annual spending globally, a figure that would rank it as the fifth largest economy in the world if measured as a country. However, this economic flow has not historically been directed toward destinations and businesses committed to rights and inclusion.
Queer Destinations, after leading national strategies in countries such as Mexico, Greece and Spain and collaborating with entities such as the European Travel Commission, the World Travel & Tourism Council and the IGLTA, is now evolving towards a direct-to-consumer model in collaboration with HBX Group.
Elena Pérez, Chief People Officer of HBX Group, highlighted that inclusion only generates impact when implemented with tools capable of scaling globally, underlining that the platform reinforces the group's commitment to a more open and responsible tourism sector.
Edgar Weggelaar, CEO of Queer Destinations, noted that the initiative creates an environment of trust where travelers can make informed decisions and hotels can tangibly demonstrate their commitment to diversity. Oriol Pàmies, founder of the organization, stated that the goal is to channel collective economic power toward governments and companies that actively support safe spaces and inclusive policies.
The platform will be officially launched at ITB Berlin, with a wider rollout planned for the end of 2026. The first phase of expansion will focus on strategic markets such as Spain, Mexico, Brazil, and Greece, consolidating an international network aimed at promoting more inclusive and responsible travel.
