With a focus on strengthening its relationship with travel agents, Norwegian announced the elimination of non-commissionable fares on its cruises, becoming the first major contemporary cruise line to pay commission on the full fare. In addition, the company is preparing for the arrival of new ships and the modernization of its private island in the Bahamas.

What are your goals and expectations for this year's ANATO?

We always come with great enthusiasm. It's the ideal time to connect or reconnect with travel agents, mainly from Colombia, but also from all over Latin America.

This year's big news is the elimination of non-commissionable fees. Now, the agent's commission is calculated on the full cruise price. We're the first major contemporary cruise line to do this. This can represent 15% to 20% more revenue per sale.

We understand this entails higher operating costs for the shipping company, but the market has evolved, and we want to strengthen our relationship with the channel. We want agents to feel comfortable recommending our products, knowing their customers will return satisfied and that they will also achieve greater profitability.

We also launched a new premium beverage package, the “More At Sea”, which is commissionable, further reinforcing this benefit.

The Norwegian Luna is launching in March. What would you highlight about the new ship?

The Norwegian Luna will be the ship that officially inaugurates the Prima Plus class and will operate from Miami to the Caribbean. It is the sister ship of the Norwegian Aqua and is 10% larger than the Prima and the Viva.

One of its key differentiators is its hybrid roller coaster, a combination of a roller coaster and a water slide, unique in the world. This is complemented by an enhanced culinary offering, with multiple specialty restaurants and the new Indulge Food Hall, which offers 13 culinary options that can be ordered from your table using an iPad.

Gastronomy is one of Norwegian's pillars within the contemporary premium segment. We strive to make the culinary experience on par with the best restaurants on land.

The ship will also feature a main theater with retractable seats that transforms into a nighttime space, a musical inspired by the music of Elton John, and multiple entertainment options for all ages.

What new features does it offer in terms of accommodation?

We've designed ships with more space dedicated to the cabins. Even the interior cabins are more spacious.

We have interior cabins, ocean views, balconies, and suites, but we're also strengthening our offerings for solo travelers. The Luna will feature an exclusive area of single cabins with a private lounge where passengers can socialize, enjoy coffee, and share experiences. This option eliminates the traditional double supplement for those traveling alone.

Technology is another differentiating factor. What advances would you highlight?

The implementation of facial recognition has transformed the boarding and disembarking process. Today, passengers can board in less than 30 minutes, thanks to online check-in and biometric systems.

In addition, the Norwegian app allows you to manage reservations for restaurants, activities and services on board, significantly improving the guest experience.

There were also announcements about the private island. What can you anticipate?

Our private island in the Bahamas, Great Stirrup Cay, has just opened a new pier. This allows ships to dock directly, eliminating the need for tenders and ensuring much more consistent arrivals.

A large pool with a live DJ and new bars have been added, and a water park with 16 slides will open soon. This especially revitalizes the short three- and four-night itineraries from Miami, such as those operated by the Norwegian Getaway.

If you had to choose an itinerary as a passenger, which one would it be?

Alaska, without a doubt. It's a destination that surprises with its pristine nature. Sailing among glaciers, mountains, and wildlife from the comfort of a ship is a profoundly moving experience.

We offer seven-night itineraries from Seattle, with stops at ports like Skagway or Icy Strait Point. Beyond the cruise itself, what truly impresses is the connection with nature in its purest form.
