During ITB Berlin, the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Mexican pavilion in Germany took place, led by the Undersecretary of Tourism, Nathalie Desplas Puel, representing Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, and the Mexican ambassador to Germany, Francisco Quiroga.
“Mexico is a world-class tourist powerhouse, proud of its identity, its traditions, its gastronomy and its cultural grandeur,” he declared.
He emphasized that when Mexico participates in these global events, it not only promotes destinations, but also artisans, traditional cooks, indigenous communities, young entrepreneurs, and thousands of families who depend on tourism.
“Our vision is clear: tourism as a tool for Shared Prosperity. That every visitor who comes to Mexico contributes to local development, cultural strengthening, and a fairer economy,” stated the Undersecretary of Tourism.
In that sense, he highlighted that markets such as the German and European markets seek history, sustainability and authentic experiences in contact with communities, characteristics that Mexico offers with breadth and diversity.
He also noted that in every meeting with tour operators, airlines and investors, it is reaffirmed that Mexico is strong, growing and ready to expand its connectivity and global presence.
Desplas Puel added that Mexico's participation in 18 international fairs and five caravans during 2026 reflects an active strategy: the country is present where the tourism of the future is being built.
Furthermore, he stated that 2026 will mark a historic moment for the country, solidifying its position as the year of tourism in Mexico, driven by an unprecedented international agenda. The year began with Mexico as the Guest Country at Fitur, a platform that allowed it to showcase itself to the world as a unique, diverse, and competitive destination.
Furthermore, Mexico will be one of the host countries for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, one of the most important sporting events globally, and will host the first edition of ITB Americas in the Western Hemisphere, which will consolidate its leadership as a host of major international events.
Within the framework of ITB Berlin, the Mexican delegation will hold strategic meetings with tour operators, airlines, investors and business partners, with the aim of strengthening air connectivity, expanding the marketing of destinations and generating greater opportunities for communities that depend on tourism.
“Mexico is not just promoted; Mexico is shared. And when Mexico is shared, culture, talent, warmth, and prosperity are shared for everyone,” he declared.
