Turkish Airlines announced a collaboration with Google to integrate Find Hub's "share item location" feature into its official baggage recovery process, marking a further step in its digital transformation strategy aimed at improving the travel experience. With this initiative, the airline becomes a launch partner for this technology, which expedites the location and return of lost or delayed baggage.
Through this integration, passengers using a Find Hub-compatible tracking tag or luggage accessory can generate a secure location link from the Find Hub app and share it with Turkish Airlines' baggage handling teams. This provides the airline with accurate and up-to-date information to locate bags more quickly.
To use the feature, passengers must open the Find Hub app, select the lost item, and activate the "share item location" option, which generates a unique and secure URL. This link can be given to an airline baggage representative, who will be able to view the item's location as it updates in real time.
Users maintain full control over the shared information, as they can stop location transmission at any time from the app. Furthermore, the links automatically expire after seven days, and the feature is deactivated once the item is detected again near its owner. All location data is encrypted, ensuring passenger privacy is protected throughout the process.
“At Turkish Airlines, we continuously invest in cutting-edge, data-driven digital solutions to enhance our passengers’ overall travel experience. By integrating innovative technologies like Google Find Hub, we are pleased to be among the first global airlines to offer enhanced baggage tracking and retrieval capabilities, providing a faster, smoother, and more reliable experience across our network of over 350 destinations worldwide,” said Mehmet Yıldırım, Vice President of Ground Operations at Turkish Airlines.
For his part, Erik Kay, Google's Vice President of Engineering, highlighted the technology's reach. "Find Hub is a truly unique experience for Android users thanks to our open ecosystem, which offers freedom of choice and a collaborative network of over a billion devices that help find lost items and devices no matter where they are."
This collaboration reinforces Turkish Airlines' focus on technological innovation applied to the passenger experience. With an expanding global network and a strategy centered on the digitalization of its services, the airline continues to advance in incorporating solutions that aim to make travel more efficient, reliable, and connected.
