SKY Airline announced the signing of a codeshare agreement with Air Europa, its first since transitioning to a low-cost model. This initiative represents a further step in the relationship between the two companies, which already had an interline agreement in place for two years, and will allow for greater commercial integration between their networks.

The agreement expands connectivity options between Europe and South America by combining Air Europa's long-haul network with SKY Airline's regional operations. This strengthens their joint offering and facilitates access to new destinations for passengers traveling between the two continents.

“This agreement represents a natural step in the evolution of our relationship with Air Europa. After two years of collaboration through an interline agreement, we are now moving towards a codeshare agreement that more deeply integrates our networks, generating new connection opportunities for our passengers and strengthening connectivity between both continents. This type of alliance is key to continuing to expand SKY’s international reach and consolidating our role as a regional partner for global airlines,” said Daniel Beláunde, CEO of SKY Airline.

Thanks to this alliance, Air Europa expands its presence in the region through codeshare connections operated by SKY Airline, extending its network to various destinations via regional hubs such as Lima, São Paulo, and Montevideo, among others. For SKY Airline, the partnership strengthens its regional network and creates new connection opportunities for travelers moving between Europe and South America.

Starting March 1, Air Europa passengers can fly between Lima and Santiago, Chile, on SKY Airline. The agreement also includes codeshare operations on five domestic routes within Peru, connecting Lima with Cusco, Arequipa, Iquitos, Trujillo, and Tarapoto.

This type of agreement facilitates a more integrated travel experience for passengers, allowing them to make connections within the same booking and check their baggage through to their final destination. Unlike interline agreements, codeshare also enables both airlines to market flights under their own codes, expanding access to a wider network of destinations.

The collaboration also includes a possible future expansion, subject to the corresponding regulatory approvals. Within this framework, Air Europa plans to add Santiago, Chile as a new destination, with codeshare operations from Lima, Salvador de Bahia and São Paulo in Brazil, Montevideo in Uruguay, and Buenos Aires in Argentina.

The announcement is part of SKY Airline's strategy to strengthen its international connectivity through alliances with global airlines. The company currently maintains 11 interline agreements with international partners, including Air Canada, United, Air France, KLM, and Aerolíneas Argentinas, allowing it to offer more efficient itineraries and connections to multiple destinations in South America and around the world with a single ticket. In this context, the airline plans to continue expanding its network of alliances in the short term, aiming to exceed 20 agreements in the coming years.
