Travel data for the upcoming Easter week paints a favorable picture for those planning to travel during this period. According to an analysis by KAYAK, a travel search engine, average flight and hotel prices have decreased compared to last year, opening up new opportunities to organize getaways both within and outside of Colombia.
According to the report, airfares and hotel rates for domestic destinations have seen average reductions of 17% and 2%, respectively. For international destinations, flights have fallen by 16%, while accommodation prices have decreased by around 10%. These changes create a more affordable environment for travelers still planning their Easter holidays.
Alejandro Lombana, KAYAK's commercial director for Colombia, explained that choosing the right travel dates can make a significant difference to your budget. According to flight search data, March 30th is shaping up to be one of the cheapest days to travel within the country, while for international routes, the most convenient day would be April 2nd. In contrast, April 5th appears to be the most expensive return date, for both domestic and international flights.
The analysis also identifies the preferences of Colombian travelers for this season. Domestically, coastal destinations continue to lead the demand. Santa Marta, Cartagena, and San Andrés top flight searches for Holy Week, with average round-trip economy class fares of $511,567, $433,448, and $656,399, respectively. Meanwhile, Cali is emerging as the fastest-growing destination in terms of interest, with a 33% increase in searches compared to last year and an average price of $207,241.
Internationally, Miami, Punta Cana, and Panama City are the top destinations most sought after by Colombian travelers. However, Rio de Janeiro is emerging as the fastest-growing destination. Flight searches to the Brazilian city have increased by 138% compared to last year, with an average price of $2,233,418 for round-trip economy flights.
In the ranking of domestic destinations with the greatest growth in searches for 2026, Cali leads with a 33% increase, followed by Pereira with 17%, Medellín with 16%, Bogotá with 14%, and Barranquilla with 10%. Internationally, Rio de Janeiro tops the list with the largest increase in interest, followed by Orlando with 30% growth, New York with 25%, Santo Domingo with 14%, and Panama City with 4%.
The study also identifies the destinations offering the greatest savings opportunities this season. Nationally, Cali saw the largest drop in average flight prices, with a 42% reduction compared to Easter 2025. Bogotá experienced a 31% decrease, while Barranquilla saw a 21% drop.
Among international destinations, Orlando leads the price drops with a 33% reduction in the average cost of flights. Cancun shows a 26% decrease, and Miami registers a 17% drop. Reductions are also observed in destinations such as San Andrés and Providencia, Panama City, Medellín, and Cartagena, expanding travel options for those looking to optimize their budget during the season.
