The upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup promises to be not only one of the world's biggest sporting events, but also a unique opportunity to explore some of the tournament's main host cities. An analysis that considers factors such as average hotel prices, cost of living, number of tourist attractions and museums, safety, and weather conditions identifies the most attractive destinations to visit during the competition.
Guadalajara leads the ranking
The city of Guadalajara tops the list as the best host city to visit during the 2026 World Cup, with a score of 8.19 out of 10. The capital of the state of Jalisco stands out for combining affordable costs with favorable weather conditions during the tournament months.
The analysis indicates that Guadalajara has one of the lowest visitor costs among the cities evaluated, with an average monthly expenditure of approximately $652.67. This is complemented by an average hotel price of $165.59 per night, one of the most competitive in the ranking. Furthermore, the city boasts an average temperature of 68 degrees Fahrenheit during the championship period.
Toronto is positioned as one of the safest destinations
Toronto ranks second, with a score of 8.12 out of 10. Although the average monthly cost reaches $1,100.25 — 69% higher than in Guadalajara — the city stands out for its safety, with an index of 56.5 out of 100, one of the highest among the locations analyzed.
Toronto also stands out for its wide cultural offerings, with more than 100 tourist attractions and 67 museums that complement the experience for visitors during the tournament.
Mexico City completes the podium

One of its main attractions is the number of museums available to visitors, with 190 options, making the city one of the most culturally diverse destinations on the list.
The major cities in the United States also stand out
Among the U.S. host cities for the World Cup, Los Angeles ranks fourth with a score of 7.40. The city offers more than 230 tourist attractions and museums combined, plus favorable weather conditions, with an average temperature of 66.2 degrees Fahrenheit and virtually no rainy days during the tournament period.
Kansas City comes in fifth place with a score of 7.36. Although it has a more limited tourist offering compared to other cities in the ranking, it stands out for its relatively affordable accommodation prices, averaging $180.47 per night.
Miami is at the bottom of the ranking
At the bottom of the list is Miami, with a score of 5.48 out of 10. The analysis indicates that the city has a more limited tourist offering compared to other locations, with 23 attractions and 17 museums, considerably lower figures than those recorded in cities like New York City.
Furthermore, Miami ranks among the most expensive destinations for fans planning to attend the tournament, with an average hotel price of $301.44 per night and an estimated monthly expenditure of $1,367.53.
The World Cup as an engine of tourism
According to Maarten Zomerdijk, the tournament will represent a significant opportunity for tourism in North America.
“The 2026 FIFA World Cup will have host cities spread across different regions of the United States, which will generate a significant boost for the tourism sector. Fans will be able to extend their stays and combine trips between several host cities,” he explained.
The analysis also highlights that the US cities included in the tournament have more than 1,000 tourist attractions and more than 700 museums, which reinforces their appeal to international visitors who will take advantage of the championship to explore different destinations beyond the stadiums.
