Michael has three decades of global experience in the hotel industry in the Americas, Europe and Greater China, and will lead the region with a strong focus on future growth, operational excellence and strengthening relationships with owners and stakeholders.
Michael began his career with IHG in 1996 at the InterContinental New York Barclay Hotel and has since held various leadership positions in both hotel operations and corporate functions in the United States, Brazil, Venezuela, Argentina, and Jamaica. Most recently, he was based in the company's Greater China region, where he oversaw 120 managed hotels and 45 new openings in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau.
With fluency in Spanish, Michael brings both global experience and a deep cultural connection to the MLAC region.

Currently, IHG's portfolio in MLAC comprises 295 hotels in operation and a pipeline of 104 hotels under development.
