Royal Caribbean announced the opening of a new public beach access in Cozumel, in the South Hotel Zone, as part of the development of the Royal Beach Club Cozumel.
The project involves relocating the existing access point to improve current conditions, which have presented challenges related to traffic congestion, limited signage, and insufficient lighting. The new infrastructure will optimize accessibility, increase safety levels, and provide more suitable facilities for both residents and visitors.
According to Ari Adler Brotman, the initiative seeks to ensure that access to the beach —a right established by Mexican law— remains available to all, while raising the quality of infrastructure in the area.
Construction of the new access road will begin once the necessary regulatory and environmental permits have been obtained. During this process, the existing access road will remain open, ensuring continued public access until the new facilities are completed.
The development is part of the company's global SEA the Future strategy, aimed at promoting responsible tourism by protecting the natural environment, supporting local communities, and innovating the traveler experience.
Through these types of initiatives, Royal Caribbean seeks to contribute to the sustainable development of coastal destinations, strengthening the relationship with host communities and promoting a tourism model that combines economic growth with environmental preservation.
