Minor Hotels announced the global launch of its new brand, The Wolseley Hotels, with its first property opening in early 2027 in New York. This debut marks the group's entry into the luxury segment in the United States, with a project that seeks to integrate tradition, design, and a contemporary hospitality experience.
Located in Midtown Manhattan, steps from Bryant Park, the future Wolseley Hotel New York will be the brand's global flagship. The hotel will occupy the historic building at 130 West 44th Street, built in 1905 as The Lambs Club and designed by the renowned firm McKim, Mead & White. Throughout its history, the building has been closely linked to the Broadway theater and cultural scene, establishing itself as an icon of the city's artistic heritage.
Raising the standard of luxury in Manhattan
The hotel will feature 76 rooms and suites designed to combine classic elegance with contemporary sophistication. The concept will include refined interiors, a carefully considered layout, and a focus on bespoke craftsmanship, reflecting the brand's distinctive identity.
One of the project's cornerstones will be its culinary offerings. At the heart of the establishment will be The Wolseley New York, the brand's first opening in the United States, conceived as its flagship location in North America. Inspired by the concept of the grand European café, it will offer all-day service, signature cocktails, and a sophisticated ambiance that aims to position itself as a social hub.
The hotel will also incorporate a speakeasy bar in the basement, designed as a more intimate space, as well as a completely renovated wellness area, aligned with a comprehensive vision of guest comfort and well-being.
A British legacy reinterpreted
The Wolseley Hotels brand takes inspiration from its namesake in London, renowned for its art deco aesthetic, refined hospitality, and positioning as a meeting place for figures from the cultural, business, and institutional spheres.
In its New York incarnation, this legacy will be reinterpreted with a cosmopolitan flair, combining sophistication and warmth. The experience will be characterized by personalized service, an outstanding culinary offering, and an atmosphere that balances international influences with a distinct local identity.
Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor International, highlighted that the launch represents “an exciting new chapter” for the company, emphasizing that the brand's vision is to develop hotels where gastronomic excellence, architectural value, and the creation of memorable experiences coexist harmoniously.
For his part, Aviv Laurence, CEO of BJGH —owner of the asset—, noted that the arrival of The Wolseley restaurant and bar in the United States constitutes “a decisive step forward” for the brand, highlighting the collaboration with Minor Hotels to develop a destination that celebrates tradition and classic European luxury.
Selective global expansion
The New York debut marks the starting point for The Wolseley Hotels' international expansion. Minor Hotels anticipates strategic growth in key cities across Europe, North America, Asia, and the Middle East, with a selective approach focused on preserving the brand's identity.
Each new property will seek to integrate gastronomic excellence, elegant design and high standards of service, consolidating The Wolseley Hotels as a distinctive proposition within the global luxury segment.
