Mundo Charro successfully achieved its first major milestone with the conclusion of the inaugural Linaje Charro Tournament, held from March 12-15, demonstrating that its vision for developing a new tourist destination in central Mexico is compatible with the preservation of intangible cultural heritage. Over four days, the venue welcomed more than 2,000 visitors, reporting a clean record and exceptionally efficient service, which impressed the participants in Mexico's national sport.

For the tournament organizers, the true triumph of Linaje Charro was witnessing how a community with a legendary history of protecting its traditions embraced this new project with such enthusiasm. The tournament brought together 25 charro associations of distinguished lineage from across Mexico and 5 escaramuza teams, who came to Singuilucan to compete and left convinced they had found a new home for the national sport.

“We charros are demanding because we cherish a historical legacy. We came with the expectation of seeing a new arena, but we're leaving feeling like we have a new home,” shared Don Carlos Maurer, captain of Hacienda Tamariz from the state of Puebla, the winning team of the tournament with 402 points. “The quality of the facilities, the spaciousness of the arena, and the dignified treatment of the livestock demonstrate a top-notch project. But beyond the infrastructure, what completely won us over was the respect with which we were treated. They made us feel valued. Mundo Charro understands the soul of charrería; this tournament is now part of our calendar, and we would love to return for the next edition.”

For her part, Azuani Rivera, captain of the Pureza Charra escaramuza team from the state of Hidalgo, highlighted the empowerment of women in the arena: “Mundo Charro offered us facilities that allow us to ride with complete confidence. The enthusiasm we experienced here, the support of the people and the organization, confirm that the national sport, especially when it comes to women, has an unbeatable stage here.”

As the highlight of the entertainment, the event featured a stellar performance by singer-songwriter Sergio Maya, a rising young talent from Hidalgo and winner of the Mexican singing competition "México Canta." His performance was the emotional climax of the weekend. Performing his own compositions and songs from the Mexican popular repertoire, accompanied by a live mariachi band, he drew the voices of fans of the national sport, creating an atmosphere that resonated with the destination's ability to offer events that connect with new generations.

“The greatest trophy that Linaje Charro leaves us with is the enthusiasm and trust that the equestrian community has placed in us,” commented César Alcázar, Director of Operations for Mundo Charro. “Welcoming more than 2,000 people with such warmth was a challenge, but it also proves that our team is world-class.”

For his part, Karim Flores, Director of Marketing and Communications for Mundo Charro, reiterated the destination's commitment to the mission of protecting charrería and Mexican culture for future generations: “Seeing the charros and escaramuzas embrace this space confirms that the soul of the project remains intact. We are joining forces with the declaration of the Congress of Hidalgo to protect this heritage. Mundo Charro is a majestic reality where charro pride is lived and breathed, and it will transform the central region of Mexico into a new world-class tourist destination.”

The spirit of this "Linaje Charro" tournament and its upcoming editions goes far beyond the sporting arena. It is an event that resonates with the philosophy of Mundo Charro, which seeks to keep traditions alive: the charro attire, the spectacular equestrian feats, and the invaluable customs of hacienda life in our beloved Mexico.

In this way, the success of Linaje Charro sets a solid precedent for the gradual opening of the complex during 2026. This milestone confirms that the viability of the project is intrinsically linked to its central mission: to serve as an economic catalyst that acts, at the same time, as one of the main custodians of charrería —recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity— for future generations.

By spearheading the creation of a new tourism development hub, Mundo Charro transcends the traditional tourism offering. The destination demonstrates to the industry that celebrating national identity is a high-impact model and proves that charrería is an immersive experience that, from today forward, is lived, breathed, and felt with all five senses.
