Sandals Resorts International (SRI) today announced a $200 million investment to renovate three of its iconic resorts in Jamaica: Sandals Montego Bay, Sandals Royal Caribbean, and Sandals South Coast.
Following Hurricane Melissa late last year, Sandals Resorts International reopened five of its eight properties in Jamaica last December, while Sandals Montego Bay, Sandals Royal Caribbean, and Sandals South Coast remained closed for evaluation. As restoration work progressed at these three resorts, Sandals Resorts identified a unique opportunity to undertake a more comprehensive transformation, aligned with its vision for Sandals 2.0. As a result, Sandals South Coast is scheduled to reopen on November 18, 2026, followed by Sandals Royal Caribbean and Sandals Montego Bay on December 18, 2026.
“The realization that we can completely reinvent three resorts at this scale, with total dedication and without compromising the guest experience, is an extraordinary opportunity,” said Adam Stewart, CEO of Sandals Resorts International. “With our doors closed, we experienced something that is almost never presented to us in the hospitality industry: a blank canvas. Having that clarity changed everything. We took the time to walk through the properties, talk with our team, and think about our guests. At a crucial moment, it became clear: we shouldn’t simply restore what was already there.”
On the contrary, we had to dream big. When we welcome our guests back, they will notice the transformation and understand why we decided to seize this moment to create something worthy of their loyalty.”
This renovation will encompass numerous aspects of the guest experience, from stunning arrival views of the Caribbean Sea to new accommodation categories, completely redesigned pools, and refreshed social and relaxation spaces—all while preserving the essence and unmistakable spirit that guests know and love at our iconic hotels. The culinary offerings will also be expanded with the introduction of new restaurant and bar concepts at each resort.
Additionally, SRI emphasized that all other resorts in Jamaica continue to operate normally and welcome guests, including Sandals Royal Plantation, Sandals Ochi, Sandals Dunn's River, Sandals Negril and Beaches Negril, thus ensuring that guests can continue to enjoy the beauty of Jamaica while this exciting new phase unfolds.
