Marriott International, Inc. announced that the company has surpassed 100 properties in South America, reaching nearly 18,600 rooms by the end of 2025, reaffirming its long-term commitment to the region, as well as strong travel and investment demand.
This expansion was supported by a solid year of development activities, with 36 agreements signed in South America, representing almost 40% of the company's total signings in the Caribbean and Latin America (CALA) region.
These agreements covered key growth markets, including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, and Peru. Projects under development in South America include more than 50 signed agreements representing over 8,000 rooms across a wide variety of brands, travel purposes, and segments, ranging from midscale to luxury, and from all-inclusive to residences.
“In 2025, South America achieved a historic year of development for Marriott, surpassing 100 properties and driving nearly 40% of all CALA signings,” said Bojan Kumer, Regional Vice President of Development for Marriott International in the Caribbean and Latin America. “This growth reflects the strength of our brands, the quality of our relationships with owners, and the growing confidence investors have in South America’s long-term trajectory.”
With a strategic focus on leisure and luxury destinations, Marriott recorded its largest development activity in South America in 2025 in Brazil, with 17 signed agreements representing 2,230 rooms. Marriott's current portfolio in Brazil includes 15 properties across nine brands, with approximately 3,800 rooms, in addition to 21 properties under development and more than 4,000 rooms. During the year, Marriott opened The Westin São Paulo and signed additional strategic agreements that reinforce its commitment to developing leisure destinations in the country, including The Westin João Pessoa, an all-inclusive resort.
Marriott signed seven agreements in Argentina, adding approximately 350 rooms to its development portfolio, including El Cauce, Autograph Collection, and Residences in Mendoza. Marriott's portfolio in Argentina now comprises 16 properties across five brands, representing nearly 2,800 rooms, with seven additional properties under development adding more than 500 rooms. The company recorded strong growth across various segments, including its debut in the midscale segment in the country with the opening of City Centro by Marriott Ushuaia. Other key openings included Recoleta Grand, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel; Marriott Hotel Buenos Aires Ezeiza Airport; and Marriott Corrientes Hotel.
Colombia demonstrated strong development momentum with six signed agreements representing over 700 rooms, including the AC Hotel Medellín. In 2025, the company further expanded its presence in the country through conversions, incorporating the Four Points by Sheraton Bogotá, Tequendama, and Loma Medellín into the Tribute Portfolio Hotel category.
