Minor Hotels Europe & Americas, a hotel owner, operator, and investor with a portfolio of 640 operating hotels and committed developments in 59 countries across Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Europe, the Americas, Africa, and the Indian Ocean, announces the appointment of Carla Amado as Regional Managing Director for Mexico & the Caribbean. She will be based at the company's headquarters in Mexico City. This appointment comes at a key time for Minor Hotels Europe & Americas, as the company continues to strengthen its presence in the country through a growth strategy focused on
priority destinations and high-demand segments.
Minor Hotels Europe & Americas currently operates 16 hotels in Mexico under the NH Hotels, NH Collection Hotels & Resorts, and Avani Hotels & Resorts brands. With the upcoming opening of Tivoli Mérida Residences and NH Guadalajara Studios, the company will reach a total of 18 properties in the country.
As part of this vision, Minor Hotels Europe & Americas is reinforcing its position in key cities for business tourism and extended stays, such as Guadalajara, with the launch of NH Guadalajara Studios, aligned with the growth of medium- and long-stay domestic tourism. Simultaneously, the company is driving the introduction of strategic brands that broaden its reach across segments and travel styles, highlighting the development of Tivoli Hotels & Resorts in Mexico as the spearhead of the luxury resort segment with Tivoli Mérida Residences, an accessible luxury offering in one of the most culturally significant cities in southeastern Mexico. Likewise, the arrival of Avani in Cancún represented a significant step, coinciding with one of the peak tourist seasons for the destination, which continues to solidify its position as a hub of international demand.
Carla Amado holds a trilingual degree in Intercultural Communication from the University of Genoa (Italy), a Master's degree in Project Management from the University of Barcelona (Spain), and an MBA from Universidad del Desarrollo (Chile). She began her career at Minor Hotels Europe & Americas in 2007 as Head of Reception, later assuming strategic positions such as Deputy Director of the NH & Tower hotel in Buenos Aires, Corporate Sales Manager for the Mercosur Business Unit, and Airlines Sales Manager for the Americas Business Unit.
In 2017, she was appointed Hotel Manager at NH Ciudad Santiago, and in 2019 she assumed the General Management of NH Collection Plaza Santiago, where she led the Operations Committee for crisis management during the COVID-19 pandemic, implementing 24 protocols and providing training throughout the Americas Business Unit. In 2022, she continued her professional development as Operations Director for Chile & PMO Americas, leading key operational teams and processes for the execution of strategic projects in the region.
“Assuming the Regional Directorship for Mexico & the Caribbean is a great honor and a responsibility I embrace with enthusiasm. Mexico is a strategic market for Minor Hotels Europe & Americas and a country with enormous growth potential. My commitment is to continue driving operational excellence, strengthening the positioning of our brands, and supporting the expansion plan with a vision focused on the guest experience, the talent of our teams, and the sustainability of the business.”
“It is an honor to assume this role at such a challenging and dynamic time for the sector. I am committed to deepening our relationships with key stakeholders, continuing to drive operational excellence, and contributing to the sustained growth of our brand in the Mexican market. I am confident that, together with our talented team, we will achieve impactful and sustainable results,” the executive concluded.
